I Didn't Even Recognize You 👀

When God calls you higher, you look different. You behave differently. You are no longer who you once were, and people from your old ecosystem will notice this difference. Many people will not like your change in appearance. Others will be utterly shocked by it.

This is what Samuel said to Saul upon being anointed to King,

"'The Spirit of the Lord will come powerfully upon you, and you will prophesy with them; and you will be changed into a different person. Once these signs are fulfilled, do whatever your hand finds to do, for God is with you'" [1 Samuel 10:6-7].

Later, "when all those who had formerly known him saw him prophesying with the prophets, they asked each other 😧 'What is this that has happened to the son of Kish' [Saul's father]?" [1 Samuel 10:11].

Saul was exhibiting behavior that was foreign to who he once was.

After the Spirit of God came on him, he began acting in alignment with this new character. It contradicted his old nature.

The next time someone calls you out for behaving in a way that is different from who they once knew you to be, ask yourself these questions:

  1. What type of behavior is this acquaintance more familiar with? And what kind of character does this behavior align with?

  2. Will this new behavior keep me in higher places? Or does it pull me lower?

  3. Does it align with Truth, and what you know to be true about the Spirit of God?

These questions are important because we want to differentiate between acting a fool and leveling up.

There are times when we act out of character, and there should be people in your circle to call you out, and hold you accountable to who they know you to be... who they know you want to be. However, it is important that we don't allow other people's scrutiny prevent us from stepping into those higher places God is calling us to.
