"... I have set my rainbow in the clouds, and it will be the sign of the covenant between me and the earth." Genesis 9:13
God told Noah this after the flood, after the land dried up and God said it was safe to leave the ark. He told Noah and his family to multiply the earth and increase in number. He told Noah to feed on the living creatures.
If this is Noah's first time ever seeing a rainbow, then how was he supposed to know what to look for? How would Noah know when he saw it?? Was he just supposed to stare at the sky and wait for some sort of magnanimous event?
If God promised you something you've never seen before, would you be able to recognize it when it appeared?
"Whenever the rainbow appears in the clouds, I will see it and remember the everlasting covenant between God and all living creatures of every kind on the earth." Genesis 9:16
God's promise still holds today. Whenever God sees a rainbow, He remembers ... Do you? OR does it take a life-altering catastrophe to remember God's perfect faithfulness and goodness to you?
Do you look at earth's natural beauty with reverence? Or are you desensitized because it's just a tree, or just grass, or some other "arbitrary" element of nature?
